‘Investing in UK Hemp & CBD: What’s Holding Back a Multi-Billion Pound Industry.’

The potential benefits of thriving UK hemp and CBD sectors, creating products from housing insulation to wellness and beauty products, are startling: the generation of 226,000+ new jobs, £2.2b in annual tax revenue, and environmental and agricultural benefits that will go a long way to helping us meet our ‘Net Zero’ commitments by 2050.

The UK economic benefits and opportunities, however, are currently being missed, largely due to an onerous Proceeds of Crime Act (‘POCA’) and hemp-growing licensing regime.

In this meeting we will hear from the co-founder of Artemis Growth Partners, Mr William Muecke, former Managing Director in the healthcare investment banking group at Goldman Sachs, and current head of Artemis Growth Partners – a USD $375M+ private equity fund investing in the global cannabis sector. Mr Muecke will highlight what's needed to dismantle the barriers currently preventing farmers from growing hemp, manufacturers from building the processing infrastructure, and global investors from gaining the legal clarity and confidence to invest in the UK industry.

This meeting will be chaired by Crispin Blunt MP, co-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Industrial Hemp and CBD Products. Confirmed guest speakers include:

Will Muecke, Co-founder, Artemis Growth Partners

* Once again we are hoping to secure a parliamentary committee room. The details of the room will be available on the week of the meeting, and will be posted on the APPG website (see below).

** With growing interest in the APPG, the strains on the zoom link have been growing in recent months. We will endeavour to make this link as reliable as possible, and will release the link by email the week before the meeting.
